This was the first Dr Who theme I ever did, dating back to 1998, and as such rather unremarkable other than for the extreme lack of equipment used. The whole theme was recorded using one Yamaha DX7 (1983 technology!), a SoundBlaster 16 and Cool Edit 96! All "multitracking" was done by painstakingly overdubbing one sound at a time on CoolEdit, which had to be got right the first time as there was no undoing it, once it was mixed-in and saved. No sequencing was used. I have a vague recollection that maybe some of the DX7 sounds were put through a guitar effects pedal to bulk them out, but I can't say for sure.

The best parts of this theme are the complex opening splash sounds, which to this day I have no idea how I achieved. To me they strongly evoke the McCoy era. The main theme patch is rather weak unfortunately. I tried to enhance this with some extra distorted sine-wave "wooos" over the top, but I fear I went a bit nuts on the distortion!
