As the basis for this darker rendition of the theme, I recorded a driving Howell-style bassline with some backwards echo. Over the top went etheric foggy sounds and the traditional whooos layered thickly, often five or six tracks together, slightly detuned to create a chorus effect. I’d like a chance to remix this one day to improve the EQ and bring the melody more to the front, but I can’t find all the masters, so it’ll have to wait.
